The main language of Costa Rica is Spanish. It is recommended that you know this language so that you can converse easily with the locals since they do not have sufficient knowledge of English. When you decide to purchase a house which is years old, there is another aspect that you must verify. There are times when the sewer pipes beneath the slabs of the house are damaged. Hence, it is better to get a hydrostatic test done on the property which will reveal any such flaws.

In Costa Rica, the natives who are interested in selling their property quote different prices to the “ticos” (people of Costa Rica) and “gringos” (foreigners). They “ticos” quote up to 50% higher price if a “gringo” is interested in purchasing their property. Hence, if you want to make sure that you find your home at the best price possible, then, entrust the job of finding out the price of the property to a trusted “tico”.
